His birthday is Feb 11, 1847. He was Deaf in left ear, not cultural Deaf. He has invented and patented over 1,500 in his lifetime. Important, he invented electric light bulb patented in 1880 at age 27. In NYC, there was 400 lamp lit on Pearl Street in Near City Hall. 
In 1888, Edison worked on his motion picture camera and 
quoted “I am experimenting upon an instrument which does
for the eyes what the phonograph does for the ear” and other famous quote is " I have not failed. I ve just found 10,000 ways that wont work."
