”2-4-14 Deaf Teacup: “It is about time to listen what the Deaf say”
Petula Dvorak wrote an article about The Tribes on Washington Post metro section today. It runs at the Studio Theatre in Wash DC this month and there is a discussion following the play. The man from China he grew up with his hearing family marginalized, mocked and mistreated him his whole life. He felt that his life is like a bird in a cage.
I painted this tile for “Deaf Teacup “to honor Happy Lunar New Year and wanted to tell a story about Asian woman who lets a bird go free. She also used “sign language” that we all feel freedom
