This doll is made by Thomas Edison in 1890's.  “The Edison Talking doll” in 1890. First technology of tiny phonograph plugged in doll’s body. The tiny holes on the chest will be coming by singing.  
Edison marketed Edison Talking Doll after a month, business failed due to the product and sing songs that  sounds creepy.

Behind the doll, there is a person with military collar buttons that showed the letters of LSF (listen speak language) with bell shape. It represents Alex Graham Bell that he believed that Deaf population would be speaking.
Then Deaf Child/person with button eyes is being colonized like a puppet.
